Still looking for that perfect Halloween event/party? Want to do something out of the ordinary, yet truly memorable? Your friends at Kvlt of Brewtality have you covered! Itchy-O will be bringing their particular brand of mayhem to The Gothic Theatre on Monday, October 31st for their second annual “Hallowmass”.

Itchy-O is truly beyond description, but here goes. Think of this 32-piece percussion based band, as a marching band straight out of hell. The performers are all clad in black, with masks to boot. What starts out as a piece of dark performance art, quickly evolves into an audience involved dance party. Blistering beats, unpredictability, and even a dancing Chinese Lion, will turn the audience into onep20111231-39-1654964718-l1 big dark dance fest. I had the pleasure of witnessing this “ritual” firsthand at last year’s Stanley Film Festival, and I was not prepared for the energy this troupe brings to the table. Itchy-O was also met with rave reviews at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin. So break out your blackest of outfits, and dust off your dancing shoes…you will not want to miss the controlled chaos that is Itchy-O! See you fiends there.

Itchy-O, the unique musical and performance group, demolishes the typical, polite structure of musical experiences. Blending music and interactive elements that shatter boundaries between performers and spectators, itchy-O plays not just to the audience, but within the crowd itself. With a driving drum corps battery, Taiko drummers, an arsenal of electronics including synthesizers, theremin, vocoders, and many other special devices, itchy-O completely engulfs and immerses an audience from every angle in a pounding electric bog of music, ephemera and spectacle. Masked and hive-minded, the performance groups wages war on predictable mediocrity with blind-siding-style performances featuring a Chinese lion, a troupe of sensuously unnerving provocateurs, fog, strobes, sequins, sweat and fury.

Based in Denver, Colorado, itchy-O has brought mystical, sweat-drenched shows to audiences around the world. Regular tour stops have included the Rialto Theatre in Tucson, Arizona as the closing performers of the Day of the Dead celebrations, the New Parish in San Francisco, and One-Eyed Jacks in New Orleans, Louisiana. Itchy-O has also collaborated with Denver Center for Performing Arts OffCenter to create a staggering Halloween spectacular that startled OffCenter theatre goers. Most recently, itchy-O performed at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, as well as the Dark Mofo festival in Tasmania, Australia, where they served as headline performers, bringing mind-shaking experience to events at this celebrated winter festival.

This raucous ritual of a show on October 31st is planned to wake the spirits, melt your mind, and shake your costume clad tail. Join itchy-O, kick off this All Souls week and celebrate the Day of the Dead; bring a memento of someone past, present or future to join in the ceremony. Artifacts and mementos brought to the show’s altar will be respectfully burned in a public ceremony on November 2nd ~ stay tuned for the secret location. | itchy-O on Facebook/Bandcamp/Soundcloud/Instagram/Twitter
