2015 lists are still rolling in across the Interweb, but one list I haven’t seen (and should be made) is here! Below you will find (practically) every metal release in 2015 from Colorado metal bands/projects. LPs, EPs, demos, splits and singles … ranked by myself in what was a lengthy, yet fun project. Weedsmokers, there’s doom and stoner bands here. Death metal brutality from the Mile High? YUP. Black metal? There’s some in there. Thrash-punk speed freaks? Colorado had some for you.
If you’re not listed on Metal Archives, I probably missed your album. Also, kudos to everyone who had their music up on Bandcamp. I was honestly surprised how easy it was to find everything without having to go to multiple places to seek it out … but if I had to, I did. So you’re welcome if you’re on this list because I took the time to listen to everyone’s work. BTW, some of you need to step up your social media game, those albums don’t promote themselves.
A lot of kick ass metal from Colorado in 2015. Give them a listen, support the bands by buying their albums and merch on Bandcamp, and go see a show!

I did. Like I had mentioned, I tried to get everything and pulled my list from over 400 active bands on Metal Archives … which they aren’t on. Not sure how I forgot them in the first place.

Ancient Wind’s debut album is absolutely fantastic. It DEFINITELY deserves to be on the list.

I see that they split-up, according to Metal Archives, so that’s how I missed them because my search criteria was active bands. Spinning the album from their Bandcamp right now.

Not sure how I missed Try Redemption since they’re listed on Metal Archives and are active. Missed Dreadnought and Offering of Dust because of them not being on Metal Archives. Thanks for letting me know.

As I mentioned in the post, I hope all these bands listen to my advice: be current on Metal Archives, be on Bandcamp and be active on social media. I’m actively looking, so if I’m missing bands then the more casual listeners who don’t go exploring as deep surely are missing out.

The only problem with Metal Archives is they can be so unnecessarily arbitrary at times. For instance, Distended is a metal band that has had good reception at shows but Metal Archives deemed them “more punk than metal” and blacklisted them from the site (even though they are sludge metal). They don’t accept digital releases and stuff like that either. But good on you for checking bandcamp and other sources too.

They do accept digital releases. I’ve left reviews on digital releases because Bandcamp is so prevalently used now. But I get how picky/arbitrary they can be. I’ve had a bunch of reviews rejected because I have included too much history in my reviews or “didn’t talk about the music enough.” Like, get over it … take my review!

I see that them now accepting digital-only releases is a very very new thing. That’s good news.
